字源 FORM what the parts do
如 sets a woman (女) beside a mouth (口) — 說文 reads it as going along with what is spoken, hence 'to be as, like this'. 此 stops a foot (止) where a person (匕) stands, pointing back at the spot just named — things being thus. 來 is the graph of wheat borrowed long ago to write 'come', and it lends its come-forward sense; 一 marks it as a single move. Together: things standing this way, and one consequence comes forward.

框 · Frame
[move / situation],如此一來,[the consequence it now enables]
觸 · Trigger
You have stated a situation or move in formal register and want to say what it now makes possible.
序 · The move
1State the situation or move first as its own settled clause. Is there a finished setup for 此 to point back at?
2Place 如此一來 at the head of the next clause, set off by commas.Does it sit between the setup and the consequence, not inside either?
3State the consequence the setup now enables.Does this follow FROM the setup? Swapping the clauses must break the sense — setup, then 如此一來, then result, never the reverse.

Same connector, same move: take the prior situation as given and project its consequence. 如此 is the written-register pointer (essays, reports, formal speech); 這樣 is the everyday one. Swap by register, not by meaning.

因為下雨,如此一來我沒去。 ✗ → 下雨了,如此一來我就沒去了。 ✓ (如此一來 already carries the situation-to-consequence link; pairing it with 因為 doubles it)
經濟好轉,如此一來我很喜歡。 ✗ → 經濟好轉,如此一來工作機會就會增加。 ✓ (the second clause must be a consequence the setup enables, not an unrelated feeling)
English 'this way' / 'so' can float in front of any next sentence and need no settled setup; learners drop 如此一來 before a bare statement and forget it must point back to a situation already laid down. Its register is also formal — in casual speech 這樣一來 is the natural choice.
