就是 grammar point · tier 1 · emphatic 就是 (simply / just is — unshakeable insistence)
Adverbial 就是 before a predicate marks it as holding firm against everything raised against it — simply, no matter what, it just is so.

字源 FORM what the parts do

就 is the step already taken — arrival, then immediacy. 是 affirms it as settled fact. Together they plant the predicate down hard: whatever else shifts, this one stays put.

故事 STORY a scene to remember it by

A flag is driven into the ground; the wind pushes from every side and the flag does not lean.

框 · Frame
[concession: 不管/無論…] [subj] 就是 [predicate]
觸 · Trigger
You want to insist the predicate stands no matter what objection or condition is thrown at it.
序 · The move
1Set up what is being thrown against it — often a 不管/無論 clause naming the variable condition. Is there a real pressure for the predicate to resist? If nothing is pushing, plain 很/真 fits better than 就是.
2Place 就是 directly before the predicate it props up.Does 就是 sit before a verb/adjective predicate, not before a noun? Before a noun it reads as identity ('it is exactly X'), a different job.
3Read it as 'simply / no matter what, it stays so'.Can the predicate survive the condition? If the sentence means the condition CHANGES the outcome, 就是 is wrong.
例 · Examples
1不管no matter遇到run into什麼問題what problem,他就是simply / no matter what很有自信very confident
No matter what problem he runs into, he just stays confident.
界 · Boundary
就是 (identity: 'it is exactly X')
Before a noun, 就是 names the thing ('他就是老師' — he is precisely the teacher). Before a predicate after a concession, it props that predicate up against pressure. The slot after it decides which job: noun = identity, verb/adj = insistence.
是…的 (focus on one detail of a past event)
是…的 frames and stresses one settled detail of something already done. 就是 holds a current predicate firm against everything raised against it; no 的 frame, no past-event reading.
雖然…但是… (concession with a turn)
雖然…但是… concedes then turns to a contrasting outcome. 就是 refuses to turn — the predicate stays the same no matter what the clause grants.
不管問題,他是很有自信。 ✗ → 不管遇到什麼問題,他就是很有自信。 ✓ (bare 是 cannot prop an adjective; 就是 carries the insistence)
他就是老師,所以堅持。 ✗ (identity reading, wrong sense) → 不管別人怎麼說,他就是堅持。 ✓ (predicate held firm)
不管你怎麼勸,他就不去。 ✗ (plain 就 reads as mere sequence) → 不管你怎麼勸,他就是不去。 ✓ (就是 holds the refusal firm against the urging)
English 'just' and 'simply' also hedge or minimize ('it's just a joke'). Emphatic 就是 never minimizes — it drives the predicate down harder. Map it to 'no matter what, it stays so', not to a softening 'just'.
