跟…(沒)有關 grammar point · tier 2 · relatedness 跟…有關 (be / not be connected to)
States that one thing is tied to another (有關) or cut loose from it (沒…關係); 跟 names the thing it is measured against.

字源 FORM what the parts do

跟 sets one thing beside another, the foot (足) following at the heel. 關 is a bar run through a gate (門): what the same bar threads, it ties together. 有 keeps that tie in hand. 沒 is the negator borrowed from a graph of water (氵) closing over a thing — it drowns the having, and the bar goes undrawn.

故事 STORY a scene to remember it by

Two gates stand side by side; one bar slides through both and locks them as one. Pull the bar out and they swing apart, strangers again.
字源記憶法
框 · Frame
[topic] 跟 [the other thing] 有關 / 沒(有)關係
觸 · Trigger
You want to say one thing turns on another — or flatly deny any link between them.
序 · The move
1Put the thing you are talking about first as the topic. Is the topic the thing whose cause or link you are pinning down?
2Name the other thing after 跟 — the partner it is tied to or against.Could you swap the two sides? 跟 is symmetric; A 跟 B 有關 reads the same as B 跟 A 有關.
3Close with 有關 to assert the tie, or 沒(有)關係 to cut it; drop 太大 in front of 關係 to call the tie small.Tie present → bar drawn → 有關. Tie denied → bar pulled → 沒…關係. Did you pick the side you mean?
例 · Examples
1現代人生病往往都with / against壓力有關is connected。一個人會不會賺錢跟年紀沒太大關係has little to do with
Modern people falling ill is often tied to stress. Whether a person can make money has little to do with age.
界 · Boundary
因為…所以…
跟…有關 names a link without ranking the two; 因為…所以… forces a direction, naming one the cause and the other the effect. 有關 stays symmetric; cause does not.
Bare 跟 joins two doers in one act (我跟你去). 跟…有關 does not act together; it weighs one thing against another for a connection.
✗ 我的病有壓力。 → ✓ 我的病跟壓力有關。 (the partner needs 跟 to be marked, and 有關 to state the tie)
✗ 賺錢不跟年紀有關。 → ✓ 賺錢跟年紀沒(有)關係。 (negate inside the phrase with 沒, not 不 before 跟)
✗ 這件事跟我沒關。 → ✓ 這件事跟我沒(有)關係。 (the negative side takes the noun 關係, not bare 關)
English 'related to / has to do with' uses one preposition; learners reach for a single word and drop either 跟 or 有關. Both brackets are required — 跟 marks the partner, 有關 carries the claim.
