框 · Frame
[option A 也好], [option B 也好], 反正 [fixed conclusion].
觸 · Trigger
Several possibilities are on the table, and you want to wave them off because none of them changes the outcome.
序 · The move
1Lay out the alternatives or the doubt first (X 也好 Y 也好, or 不管…).Is there a real branching the reader could weigh? 反正 needs something to dismiss.
2Place 反正 at the head of the clause that survives all branches.Does the clause after 反正 stay true under every option named? If one branch breaks it, 反正 is wrong.
3State the conclusion as settled fact, often with 一定/都/反正就.Am I asserting an outcome, not just one more possibility?
例 · Examples
1借錢borrow money也好…or… (either is fine),先賺錢earn money再then (after)讀書也好,反正in any case / anyway他一定definitely要念完finish (studying)大學university。
Borrow money, earn first and study later — whichever; in any case he is set on finishing university.
界 · Boundary
不管…都…
不管…都… names the varying condition explicitly inside the frame; 反正 just gestures back at options already raised and asserts the constant. 不管 builds the scope; 反正 closes it.
無論如何 means 'by any means, at all costs' — effort pushed toward a goal. 反正 means 'it makes no difference' — indifference to which path, the outcome is fixed either way.
✗ 反正你想去就去,想不去就不去。 → ✓ 你想去就去,想不去就不去,反正都可以。 (反正 heads the surviving conclusion, not the first branch.)
✗ 反正我要努力考上大學。 → ✓ 我一定要努力考上大學。 (No alternatives dismissed, so 反正 has nothing to sweep aside.)
✗ 不管下不下雨,反正我去。 → ✓ 反正不管下不下雨,我都去。 (Don't strand 反正 mid-frame; it leads the clause that holds across cases.)
English 'anyway' often just resumes a topic or softens ('anyway, as I was saying'). 反正 always points back to dismissed alternatives and forward to a fixed outcome; it is not a discourse filler.
