ㄗㄤ · zāng
noun — stolen goods, loot; ill-gotten gain, graft

字源 FORM — what the parts do

a cowrie — money, goods of value
zāng — to stash, hold; gives the sound (the root behind 藏, 臟)
A cowrie (貝, goods of value) plus 臧 (zāng) for the sound — wealth that was taken and stashed: 贓物 (stolen goods), 貪贓 (graft), 分贓 (split the loot). 臧 is the root that also gave 藏 (to store) and 臟 (the organs tucked inside); here it names what is held wrongly.

故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by

搶來的錢財()偷偷藏()起來——那就是贓。
Money (貝) taken and quietly stashed away (臧) — that is the loot, 贓.
