Marks one bounded facet of a topic and confines the following remark to that facet: (在) [topic] 方面 = in the area of / on the … side of [topic].

方 squares off one bounded direction; 面 is the side a thing turns toward you. Together 方面 names one face of a many-sided topic. 在 sets you down inside that face; the topic word fills the gap before 方面, and the comment stays within it.

方面 carves out ONE side of a topic and keeps the remark inside it; 關於 names the whole subject the sentence is about. 在飲食方面注意 = careful on the diet side; 關於飲食 = on the subject of diet (the whole thing).
對…來說 (as for / from the standpoint of)
方面 picks a facet OF a topic to comment within; 對…來說 sets a vantage point FROM which a judgement is made. 在學生方面 = on the student side of it; 對學生來說 = from a student's point of view.
✗ 在昨天去公園方面，我很開心。 → ✓ 昨天去公園，我很開心。 (a single event is not a facet — 方面 needs a domain like 健康/經濟)
✗ 我想說方面語言。 → ✓ 在語言方面，我想說一點。 (the facet fronts the comment; 方面 follows the topic word, it does not lead)
✗ 關於飲食方面，他很注意。 → ✓ 在飲食方面，他很注意。 (don't stack 關於 and 方面 — one frames the whole subject, the other one facet; pick one)
English 'in terms of / when it comes to X' lets X be almost anything, including an event; 方面 only takes a standing domain or aspect, and it sits AFTER the topic, not before.
