(也)…也…grammar point · tier 2 · (也)…也… coordinate two capacities of one subject
Lays two parallel things one subject does or can do side by side; each is marked 也, the first one often dropped.
字源 FORM what the parts do
也 is borrowed for the sound, no picture in its strokes. One 也 stands before each predicate; the front one is bracketed because it usually drops, the second always stays to tag the added member.
故事 STORY a scene to remember it by
One starting point with two tracks running out from it; the second track is laid level alongside the first, tied to it, never bent back against it.

框 · Frame
[subj] (也)[VP-A] 也 [VP-B]
觸 · Trigger
You want to list two things one subject does or can do, both holding together.
序 · The move
1Name the one subject both predicates belong to.Is it a single subject carrying both, not two separate subjects?
2State the first predicate, leaving its front 也 off.Does the first member stand on its own without 也?
3Put 也 before the second predicate and finish it.Does 也 sit before the verb, and is the second member parallel to the first, not a contrast?
Single 也 lays one new predicate beside one already said (also that). The paired (也)…也… frame lists two predicates of the same subject together as a matched set, the second always marked 也.
又…又…
又…又… stacks two fixed qualities true at once (cheap and famous). (也)…也… lists two things the subject does or can do (makes juice, also makes cake).
草莓可以做果汁也做蛋糕也。 → 草莓可以做果汁也可以做蛋糕。 (也 sits before the second predicate, not at the end.)
joining with 和: 草莓可以做果汁和蛋糕也可以 → 草莓可以做果汁也可以做蛋糕。 (repeat the verb under 也, do not splice with 和.)
turning the second member against the first: 這家店可以買書也不能退錢 → 雖然這家店可以買書,但是不能退錢。 (the frame couples parallel members, not a reversal.)
English says it once with and / and also; learners drop the repeated verb after 也 or push 也 to the sentence end like English too.
