A cart (車) hauling goods from one place to another — to transport. 俞 carries the sound yú, worn to shū. From conveying: 運輸 transport, 輸入 to import, 輸送 to convey. From sending one's stake away comes the other sense — to lose: 輸贏 win or lose, 認輸 to admit defeat.
