字源 FORM — what the parts do

a seated body — the broad base of the halla body, slumped or seated
shū — gives the sounda hand gripping a pole-weapon
IFshū → diàn — the reading shifted far off the donor
A great hall raised high above the rest: 殿堂, 宮殿. The old graph carries two tellings: a seated body (尸) for the broad base with 殳 shū the sound, or 殳 the hand-and-weapon striking with 臀 tún the sound, its top worn down into the 尸 — both land on diàn. From the highest hall, the verb for what comes last in line: 殿後.
