The old graph carries two tellings: a lizard, the color-changing chameleon (蜥易), its head and legs still traceable in the strokes — the creature that never holds one shade; or two vessels, one tipping its liquid into the other, a pour that hands something over. Either way the sense is change and exchange: 變易、交易. From change made effortless comes the everyday easy: 容易、簡易.
