The hand (扌) plus the sound 辰 (chén) — a hand that shakes something hard: 振動, to vibrate; 振翅, to beat the wings. 說文 reads the old sense as lifting up, rescuing — and that lift survives in the figure: 振奮, 振作, to brace the spirit up.
