垂
ㄔㄨㄟˊ · chuí
verb — to hang down, to droop; to let down, hand down
字源 FORM — what the parts do
垂形a plant heavy with drooping leaves, hung over the ground
A plant bent under its own weight, the leaves hanging to the ground — the picture is "to droop." From hanging down come the rest: to lower (垂頭), to hand down to later ages (垂範), to draw near the edge (垂危). As a sound it heads its own series: 錘、陲、捶.
故事 STORY — a scene to remember it by
枝葉太重,整株往下垂,葉尖剛碰到地。
The leaves too heavy, the whole plant droops, the tips just brushing the ground.
